Digital Skills Awareness Course

Welcome! This awareness course outlines the key digital skills you will need for your studies. It will not give you the digital skills -- it is for avoiding surprises that make you say "no one told me I need to know that!". Your own institutional support (Library, IT, E-Learning etc.) will tell you how to acquire or improve your skills.

This course offers tips and advice from a variety of sources, including other first year students and university support staff, as well as helpful links and videos from around the internet.

How to complete

Please work through the course in sequence by clicking on each heading and topic link. Read through the pages, watch videos and follow links to read, browse, bookmark or download as appropriate. You can return to this home screen by clicking the course code link in the bar above or using your "back" button. You must click on the little box next to each topic to mark it as complete.

At the end of each Unit, you will find a quiz to test your knowledge. You will need to score 100% on all four quizzes to pass the course, but don't worry -- you can retake each quiz as many times as you like, and only the highest score will count. To pass the course, you will need to have checked off all topics and completed four quizzes. You will then achieve a badge, which is proof of successful completion.
