Get Interactive: Practical Teaching with Technology
A quick introduction to both the Learning Designer tool and some practical ideas can be found by taking this Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), which is a 3-week practical course covering some of the popular technologies that educators use to make their learning engaging, interactive and dynamic. It's free to take this MOOC but if you want a course completion certificate, there is a small charge, payable on the course site.
Each week focuses on a particular topic:
- Using multimedia for teaching and learning
- Encouraging student collaboration
- Formative assessment and feedback
Participants read, watch videos, research, do activities, discuss and complete a practical, peer reviewed assessment each week. The emphasis is on gaining a wide range of experience through practice. Although a few key concepts are introduced along the way, this is a hands-on course, and participants should find many ideas to incorporate into their teaching.

The EU's Future Teacher programme provides a series of webinars and associated resources on specific themes. These can be a quick way to get specific information. "The general aim of the webinars is to provide a platform for exploring, discussing and sharing effective practice and to provide free tools and resources to support you and your colleagues including the opportunity to participate and contribute to the wider project which is also completely free and will provide opportunities for more formal participation."
